Salem County Contractors Plead Guilty
On June 17, 2008 John W. Dubois owner of JD’s Total Home Maintenance of Pilesgrove and Steven Matteo owner of Custom Kitchens and Baths in Woodstown pled guilty in West Deptford Township for violating the NJ Plumbing Licensing Law. According to the complaining witness for the state Gary Devine Mr. Matteo of Custom Kitchens and Baths contracted plumbing services for a local resident and then reassigned (sub-contracted) it to Mr. John Dubois of JD’s Total Home Maintenance who performed the plumbing service.
The Honorable Judge Guy Killen assessed each defendant a $400 fine + the normal court costs and required fees. Judge Killen also ordered each defendant NOT TO VIOLATE the NJ PLUMBING LICENSING LAW again. The state of NJ requires anyone who offers or performs plumbing services no matter how big or small to be licensed as a NJ Master Plumber. Since Mr. Dubois was not licensed to perform plumbing services and Mr. Matteo was not licensed to act a plumbing contractor they violated the NJ Plumbing Licensing Law.
The Gloucester and Salem County Master Plumbers Associations along with MyNJPlumber.com remind all NJ Consumers that faulty plumbing has a potential to create both a health and safety risk. Protect your family and property, verify the license of anyone offering or perform plumbing services at your home or business with the NJ Board of Master Plumber Examiners.
