NJ Home Improvement Contractor Guilty in Pitman
On Tuesday, August 28, 2007, Joe Lebron, owner of Dixie Total Home Maintenance a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor plead guilty in Pitman Municipal Court, for advertising plumbing. Mr. Lebron used a full page advertisement, inside the May 21, 2007 Gloucester County Edition, of the Courier Post newspaper. The ad offered plumbing services along with other services. Mr. Lebron told honorable Judge Jay Powell, that he hires license plumbers and electricians on every job dealing with those trades. Judge Powell told Mr. Lebron that he can not advertise plumbing unless he is licensed to do so.
Judge Powell asked Mr. Devine, Chairman of a local plumbing association’s license enforcement committee what he thought the penalty should be. Since the reason Mr. Devine donates his time to this issue is strictly for consumer protection he stated "Your honor we would like a plumbing restraining order issued, a three hundred dollar fine, and the normal violent crimes compensation (VCC) and safe neighborhood compensation fees" (SNC).
Judge Powell told Lebron, "You are getting a break; the fine could go up to twenty five hundred dollars".
Joe Lebron looked Mr. Devine and said "Thank You".
Judge Powell ordered a three hundred dollar fine, seventy five dollars for SNC, fifty dollars for VCC and thirty two dollars in court cost. The Judge also ordered a plumbing restraining order against Joe Lebron and Dixie Total Home Maintenance.
