Home Depot Sub-Contractor Pleads Guilty of Performing Plumbing Services
May 16, 2007 Spirit Delivery pleads guilty in Deptford Municipal Court. The Honorable Judge Golden issued a six hundred dollar fine and court cost. A charge was also filed against employee Dave Murphy, but was later dropped.
Reports claim that Home Depots attorney Howard Matalon who also represented Sears in past plumbing cases stated the P.S.E.G. appellate court ruling allows Home Depot to contract to an unlicensed entity. He went on to say that Home Depot contracted out to G.E. and not Spirit Delivery. According to Home Depot G.E. was at fault.
Home Depot has also been charged and the case postponed. This case is going to trial.
Home Depots attorney Matalon stated to Gary Devine that Home Depot would plead guilty to a municipal ordinance that was related to this case, but refused to plead guilty to violating the state plumbing law.
This looks like a great case to get our Attorney Generals Office to actually protect NJ Consumers from being defrauded by Large Corporations who are with out a doubt only interested in one thing. “Profits over Safety”
We will keep you posted if the NJ Attorney General contacts us.
